Background & Mission Statement

A Bit of Background

"Tribes" is a game franchise that has been around since the dawn of internet gaming, often tauted by its small but dedicated fanbase as the best shooter made. While recent sequels are fun games in their own right, to many of the gamers who have been there since the beginning, they all have felt lacking when put in the light of the original game. Often the oldschool tribers have felt like their voices have fell on deaf ears- but the Tribes community has been splintered, with many differing opinions. This fact has the possibility to make it hard [for developers new to the series] to pin down what a Tribes fan really wants.

Mission Statement

My mission statement is simple- I will apply conventional game theory to many of the hot topics that we've seen in the Tribes series from its devoted fans, in retrospect. I will dissect one part of the gameplay at a time, with the idea of eventually forming a series of essays that can be compiled into one cohesive document, similar to "The Federalist Papers". And possibly from this, I can provide a clear understanding to what the "essence of Tribes" really is.
